About Us

Founded by MiChele Mitchell Basemore in 2017, the Labor of Love Community House was incorporated and obtained its 501(c)(3) status in January of 2018. The organization provides services to women living in Highland Park and Detroit, Michigan.

We believe that no one, regardless of who they are, what they do, where they live, or their socio-economic status, can function at their best without a stable place to get a good night’s sleep, a meal and a shower.  For our women, what is needed is a place to begin restoring one’s dignity, provide hope and receive a second chance.  Our society can’t heal until our women are healed.

Mission

To enhance the quality of life for women on their road to self-sufficiency by providing transitional housing, sustainable employment and social services.

Vision

To end women unemployment and return the dignity of self-sufficiency to every woman we serve.
